Ospizio Morosini
On October 20, 1678 Piero Morosini proposed to make a hospice. His proposal was to take the collapsed building next to Campo di San Simeon Profeta and restore it to create a 36-room hospice for an equal number of poor women -- standard civilians and widows with at least one child. Each room was to function as a home with all the necessary amenities and the selection of residents would be done by two Morosini elders who would function as Commissioners. Widows would have to pay a portion of the maintenance costs, take an oath of faith, and participate in activities on Easter and Christmas.
Within two years the hospice was complete with 24 individual houses, rather than the original proposal of 36.
